Juniper launches solution to increase data capacity

Juniper Networks has launched a solution designed to help operators increase capacity by nearly 10 times.

The Virtual Converged Cable Access Platform (Virtual CCAP) has been launched in collaboration with Gainspeed, following Juniper’s investment in the company last October.

The solution is designed to allow cable operators to automate their edge/access network infrastructure, allowing for a transition to an all IP environment.

It combines Gainspeed technology with Juniper Networks' MX Series 3D Universal Edge Routers and EX Series Switches.

The virtual CCAP is aimed at reducing the total cost of capacity by 67%, by avoiding physical cable modem termination system (CMTS) platforms, Juniper said in a statement.

In February, Juniper Networks launched a set of software defined networking (SDN) solutions which is designed to enable providers to build automated, high-intelligence networks, in addition to addressing potential 5G demands.
