Telekom Srbija selects Alcatel-Lucent for ultra-broadband upgrade

Telekom Srbija has selected technology from Alcatel-Lucent to upgrade its network with ultra-broadband access.

The French vendor will deploy its motive network analyser solution on the Serbian incumbent’s network, to enable the delivery of high-speed internet, video on demand and advanced business services.

“In an increasingly competitive market, keeping our customers satisfied as well as appealing to new customers is an important strategic objective; they expect an enhanced overall experience and we consider it our obligation to fulfil their expectations,” said Filip Bankovic, CTO of Telekom Srbija.

“Alcatel-Lucent was able to very effectively show the advantages of using a tool like Network Analyzer for managing our xDSL network, thus guaranteeing high-quality internet and video services, and we are looking forward to reaping the benefits of its deployment,” he added.

The solution allows operators to remotely diagnose network quality, meaning any issues can be addressed before a customer is impacted.

Telekom Srbija is investing in the upgrade of its existing copper infrastructure and Alcatel-Lucent’s solution will enable the operator to maximise this investment, as well as offer dynamic management technology for optimal performance.

“We effectively demonstrated how the Motive Network Analyzer improves network reliability and reduces costs within Telekom Srbija’s multi-vendor access network environment,” said Emil Visloguzov, account leader of Alcatel-Lucent. “By deploying this technology to monitor and manage its fixed lines, Telekom Srbija can sustain the ultra-broadband connections seamlessly to deliver video and other data intensive services that its subscribers demand.”

Telekom Srbija is in the process of being privatised. Last year, the Serbian government said that it would “consider every possible credible offer” for the company.
