Tata expands data centre footprint in four new markets

Tata Communications has expanded its global data centre footprint by establishing presences in four new markets.

The company has signed agreements with NEXTDC in Australia, Interxion in Germany and Austria, and Pacific Link Telecom in Malaysia.

According to Tata, the agreements will enable the company to extend its data centre offerings in the regions and deliver a unified customer experience across the geographies it operates in.

Tata’s VP of data centre services C R Srinivasan told Capacity the company is looking to further expand its data centre presence globally, and has targeted Hong Kong as its next potential investment.

“As technologies evolve and trends like BYOD and video streaming become a central part of enterprise business needs, it is important to have these applications hosted on a global data centre network to provide a uniform experience to the end user,” he said.

The company said that expanding its data centre footprint was part of its strategy to maintain Tata’s digital infrastructure.

Srinivasan added that Tata had identified significant growth opportunities in Germany and Austria, and the decision to go into Malaysia complemented its presence across India.

Tata said the partner sites in these countries are designed to act as extensions to Tata’s global data centre footprint.
