NTT Communications launches cloud-based virtual desktop platform

Japanese telecoms company NTT Communications has launched an enterprise virtual desktop infrastructure in the US market, in partnership with Citrix Systems.

The desktop service provides enterprises with cloud-based access to office desktop environments from anywhere and from any device.

The service incorporates XenDesktop by Citrix, a solution which does not allow screen transfers to leave data in the user’s device, allowing employees to switch between PCs, tablets and mobiles securely.

“Incorporation of XenDesktop in NTT Com’s enterprise virtual desktop infrastructure will enable US companies to better satisfy their global computing needs,” said Mitch Parker, VP and GM of Citrix cloud services at Citrix Systems.

“The combination of industry-leading desktop virtualisation technology with US-based cloud service platforms will ensure that customers worldwide can use desktop virtual environments safely on a highly flexible and expandable service platform.”

NTT plans to launch the enterprise virtual desktop service in Europe and Asia, and hopes to add applications to the service.

In February this year, NTT announced the launch of US and European platforms for its cloud-based enterprise communications service, Arcstar UCaaS.
