SSE Telecoms launches 30 additional UK PoPs

UK infrastructure provider SSE Telecoms has announced the launch of 30 additional PoPs in the country.

The PoPs are designed to offer up to 10Gb capacity per customer, per connection, and are primarily located around central London, as well as in Birmingham, Cambridge, Coventry, Derby, Edinburgh, Leeds, Slough and Windsor in the UK.

“The new PoPs, which form the latest part of the Project Edge investment, are essential to ensuring our high-bandwidth, high-availability network services are readily available to our existing channel and growing enterprise customer base,” said Chris Jagusz, managing director at SSE Telecoms.

“We are fully committed to our ongoing investment in our network, ensuring we are able to meet even the most demanding requirements of businesses across the UK,” he added.

The PoPs bring SSE Telecoms’ total count to 54, located in central business districts up and down the country to ensure nationwide coverage.

The Project Edge investment was launched at the end of 2013 and is designed to expand the size of SSE’s UK fibre network to more than 13,700km.

In December 2013, SSE Telecoms partnered with Zayo for dark fibre backhaul and an additional UK PoP.
