Belgacom to launch cloud service

Belgian operator Belgacom is set to launch new cloud service Belgacom Cloud, following successful trials with 4,500 users since mid-December last year.

Belgacom’s cloud service, which will be launched on April 1, will allow customers to access their photos, videos, music and documents anywhere, across their computers, mobile devices and TVs.

Belgacom has partnered with Finnish company F-Secure to ensure the security of content within the cloud application.

“What is unique – compared with other cloud services – is that customers will also have access to the documents in their Belgacom Cloud via Belgacom TV. Not only will that be possible via their own Belgacom TV system, but also via that of a family member or friend,” Belgacom said.

Earlier this month, network optimisation firm JDSU partnered with Belgacom to improve 2G, 3G and 4G networks across the country.
