FirstLight Fiber expands Vermont operations

Fibre-optic network provider FirstLight Fiber is expanding its Vermont data centre in a bid to keep up with demand for broadband connectivity.

The move is said to provide increased co-location space and low-latency broadband for customers in the north east US.

“As companies continue to grow, so do their needs for premium co-location space to securely house their critical business data,” said Jim Capuano, SVP and chief of network operations for FirstLight.

“The expansion of this data centre leverages FirstLight’s expertise at designing, building and maintaining state-of-the-art facilities. We look forward to continuing to serve customers in Vermont and across the FirstLight footprint,” he added.

The expansion is part of a multi-phase plan, which is designed to match the growth in connectivity demand, and is the second expansion of the Vermont data centre.
