PCCW Global receives international MEF certification

PCCW Global claims it has become the first in the world to receive MEF CE 2.0 certification for all eight carrier Ethernet service types from the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF).

The Hong Kong based carrier received international MEF CE 2.0 certification for global services, verifying the operator’s ability to deliver state of the art services that cross continental boundaries.

At the same time the carrier has certified its 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GE) network service.

“We are enriching our Ethernet offering to customers globally by providing them with a fully-managed carrier-class solution,” said Jordick Wong, SVP of product and vendor management at PCCW Global.

“It is essential that PCCW Global continuously upgrades its service standards and ability to support the latest voice, data and video applications worldwide.”

MEF-CECP certification was developed to identify carrier Ethernet expertise within organisations and is the industry’s first vendor-neutral certification program.

Last month PCCW filed a court case against regulators in Hong Kong over a government plan to redistribute a third of existing 3G spectrum licences later this year.
