Verizon appoints head of global wholesale

Verizon has appointed Eric Cevis as president of global wholesale at the company.

Cevis leaves his previous position as head of global wholesale sales for the Americas, and replaces Mike Millegan, who retired from the role last year.

“Eric has a proven track record of driving innovation and delivering results for our wholesale customers,” said John Stratton, president of Verizon enterprise solutions. “His broad expertise, leadership and customer focus are essential as Verizon strengthens itself as a globally connected company.”

Verizon’s global wholesale unit comprises voice, data, internet, Ethernet, IP, cloud and security services, and Cevis will lead a team of sales, marketing and operational staff.

Cevis has a long history with Verizon since joining the company under the name Bell Atlantic in 1986, and has held a variety of senior roles.

Verizon’s new head of global wholesale also holds a degree from George Mason University and is a member of a number of industry boards, including the Consortium of Information and Telecommunications Executives (CITE), the National Eagle Leadership Institute (NELI) and the National Association of Black Telecommunications Professionals.

Cevis takes on the role at a crucial time for the company, which is now competing directly with AT&T in its race to roll out 4G across the US.
