Etisalat and Mobily sign LTE roaming agreement

Etisalat has signed a LTE roaming agreement with Mobily, enabling customers 4G coverage in both the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

The move is said to enhance the connectivity and experience for customers travelling to both countries, with Saudi Arabia said to be one of the largest roaming destinations for Etisalat.

Mobily will connects its subscribers via Etisalat’s SmartHub IPX which provides LTE roaming services, voice services, signalling, messaging services and GRX data exchange.

“We are proud of Etisalat SmartHub’s partnership with Mobily which will enable subscribers in both countries to enjoy consistent, high quality LTE experience and provide best-in-class internet roaming connectivity,” said Ali Amiri, EVP, carrier & wholesale services, Etisalat.

“With strong business relations between both countries today’s announcement becomes integral to the changing dynamics of the business ecosystem. The partnership with Mobily will improve customer experience as well as deepen ties between both countries.”

According to Amer Mowafi, chief wholesale & carrier services officer at Mobily, the growing proliferation of 4G devices in the region has made it imperative for operators to enhance 4G network and services.

“The partnership with Etisalat SmartHub-IPX will boost communication services between both countries especially with the increasing amount of subscribers travelling for both personal and business needs,” he adds.


Capacity will be holding a Smart Media event as part of Capacity Middle East 2014 tomorrow (March 6), focussing on content delivery and monetisation across the entire ecosystem.
