TTI establishes PoP in the UAE with datamena

Türk Telekom International (TTI) has launched a PoP through carrier-neutral data centre and connectivity platform datamena.

The move is said to expand TTI’s reach in the Middle East, while providing datamena customers with connectivity options to Turkey and the rest of eastern and central Europe. As part of the agreement, TTI will connect its Gulfstream AMEER cable into datamena, providing an alternative route for traffic between the Middle East and Europe.

From datamena, the cable can also connect to other routes such as the Middle East-Europe Terrestrial System (MEETS).

“We chose datamena as an end point to facilitate our intention of bringing new capacity into the region, due to the data centre’s strategic location and the rich ecosystem of carriers, CDNs, cloud providers and enterprise customers that currently inhabit the network,” said Cengiz Öztelcan, CEO at TTI.

TTI, which was named best Central and Eastern European Wholesale Carrier at the Global Carrier Awards 2013, join over 40 other customers that interconnect through datamena’s neutral platform in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), provided in alliance with Equinix.

“Türk Telekom International brings a wealth of new opportunities to datamena customers,” commented Mahesh Jaishankar, vice president at datamena.

The Capacity Middle East 2014 conference opened today and continues until March 5.
