Hungary to issue additional mobile frequencies

Hungarian telecoms regulator, the National Media and Infocommunications Authority, has announced plans to issue a tender for mobile frequencies at the end of April, according to local reports.

The sale is expected to include frequencies in the 800MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz and 2600MHz bands and the regulator hopes to raise approximately $531 million.

The new frequencies will be used along with the existing ones that provide the basis for Hungary's mobile services.

Deutsche Telekom announced last week that it is planning on investing approximately a billion dollars in a Hungarian high speed internet network over the next few years.
