Geo Networks has extended its fibre infrastructure across west London, UK, to support the growing number of data centres in the area. The 43km route will link Staples Corner in North West London to the City and Docklands. [read more]

South American operator Entel has selected Chinese vendor Huawei to build its LTE network across Peru. The move follows the acquisition of a 4G spectrum license in July 2013 by the operator’s affiliate Nextel Perú. [read more]

Vodafone has announced that it plans to launch 4G roaming in 18 countries by this summer, as part of a plan to invest £7 billion in its networks and services by March 2016. The operator already offers 4G roaming on its own networks in Greece, Italy, Portugal, Romania and Spain and it will launch 4G roaming in Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa and the UK. South Korean operator SK Telecom has announced that it will build additional base stations in an effort to ensure nationwide 4G coverage by the end of this year. The build-out of 1.8GHz base stations will improve the speed of the operator’s network to 150Mbps. [read more]

Tunisie Telecom has selected Alcatel-Lucent to upgrade its existing voice line, for the delivery of high-speed broadband to customers throughout Tunisia. The three year agreement to extend broadband services supports the telco’s plan to evolve its voice and data networks into a single IP infrastructure, in a bid to provide customers with high-quality voice calls, faster internet access and new services. Pacnet’s enabled network (PEN) which was developed with Vello Systems has been launched in the US. First launched in November last year in Australia, Singapore, Japan and Hong Kong, the Asian service provider Pacnet has now expanded its services in the US due to the success in Asia. [read more]

TeliaSonera International Carrier (TSIC) has partnered with Omantel to launch a PoP in Oman. The carrier’s network expansion will see it offer internet protocol, Ethernet, international voice and IPX-based services. [read more]

Carrier neutral exchange company Epsilon has established a virtual PoP for Indonesian operator TransIndonesia in Singapore. The virtual PoP is said to enable the Indonesian operator to connect to over 500 network operators pre-connected to Epsilon’s exchange. [read more]

ADVA Optical Networking has launched a solution designed to help mobile operators meet the growing demand for data from mobile customers. ADVA’s AnyCell Connectivity solution combines both hardware and software, and provides a direct migration path between RANs and high-speed mobile broadband networks. [read more]

Monaco Telecom has entered a partnership with Space Systems International Monaco (SSI-Monaco) to support its satellite telecoms services business. SSI-Monaco is due to launch the MonacoSat satellite by the end of this year which will allow the company to provide services to the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia and Europe. [read more]
