Mobily inks connectivity agreement with Ciena

Saudi Arabian operator Mobily has signed an agreement with US vendor Ciena to launch advanced connectivity services aimed at the operator’s enterprise customers.

The deal allows Mobily to offer high-speed data transfers, bandwidth-on-demand and enhanced cloud service access.

“Mobily has transformed the mobile market in the KSA and is equally determined to carry this change through to the enterprise connectivity market,” said Mohammed Basafi, CTO at Mobily.

“Our partnership with Ciena is making this transformation possible; not only through its technology, but more importantly, its ability to decipher the challenges we face in our business and with our end customers, and turn them into growth opportunities.”

Mobily will use Ciena’s OPn architecture to adjust network capacity in real time, which will meet the changing needs of businesses and allow access to cloud-based services with lower latency, enhanced resiliency and lower costs.

With a 40% market share in Saudi Arabia, the move supports Mobily’s aim to grow in the enterprise segment.
