Fibertech expands into Michigan

US provider Fibertech Networks has announced plans to deploy over 750 miles of fibre-optic cable in Detroit and its suburbs.

Detroit will be one of the largest population centres Fibertech is addressing, and the network will pass through a number of suburban cities, including Trenton, Canton, Dearborn, Southfield, Warren, Troy and Chesterfield.

The move increases the number of Fibertech US metro networks to 30 and is a continuation of the company’s aggressive expansion plans.

Last year, the company expanded into five new markets in Ohio.

“This is a major expansion for Fibertech and an important step in our development as one of the largest and fastest-growing metro fibre providers in the eastern US,” said John K Purcell, CEO of Fibertech. “This new network expansion is a natural extension of our market footprint, given our growing presence in the midwest and, most recently, our extension into five new markets in Ohio, including Toledo.”
