Vodafone Australia launches 4G mobile broadband devices

Vodafone Australia has launched two 4G mobile broadband devices: the mobile broadband USB stick and the pocket Wifi device.

The devices are available for use on the operator’s 4G network, built on Vodafone’s 20MHz of spectrum holdings in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.

The devices can reportedly offer speeds of 150Mbps and can serve as a portable hotspot, servicing up to 10 devices at a time.

The move was a response to strong demand for mobile broadband products, particularly from customers who do not want a permanent, fixed-broadband connection.

“Increasingly, Australians are ditching fixed internet connections in favour of the convenience and portability of mobile data,” Katie Turkal, Vodafone Australia’s devices general manager, commented.

Vodafone Australia deployed 4G in the country in June 2013.
