BT Openreach interconnects to Volta data centre

BT’s LAN business, Openreach, was today announced as the latest company to interconnect to Volta’s London data centre.

Volta’s Great Sutton Street data centre launched in October last year, and is already claimed to be one of the most connected and resilient facilities in London, UK.

Openreach has added a dedicated, high-capacity fibre link to the Volta facility, in order to provide Volta business customers with access to more than 200 communications providers.

“We are the natural choice for data centre players looking to provide their business customers with a wide choice of suppliers, as a result of our open wholesale network,” said Tim Barday, MD of sales, marketing and customer engagement at Openreach.

“Volta’s customers can select business connectivity services from more than 200 suppliers as a result of the new partnership announced today.”

The move is said to be a driven by customer demand, and Openreach will deliver a range of high-bandwidth options, from 10Mbps to multiple 10Gbps services, to ensure fast, secure and resilient backhaul links.

“The addition of Openreach means we can offer our customers even more choice of high-speed, resilient connectivity,” said Matthew Dent, CEO at Volta.

In April last year, Capacity met with Julian King, commercial director at Volta, when the company had just switched on the Great Sutton Street data centre’s power for the first time.
