AMS-IX announces first reseller for New York unit

Dutch internet exchange AMS-IX has today announced wholesale service provider IX Reach as its first AMS-IX New York reselling partner.

AMS-IX established its New York exchange in November last year, and the addition of IX Reach as the first reseller will enable the wholesale service provider to remotely connect parties to peer at the exchange and enhance their IP service offerings.

IX Reach has been a reseller of AMS-IX in Amsterdam since 2007. In 2013 it was announced as the reseller connecting the most third parties to the exchange.

Job Witteman, CEO at AMS-IX, said: “With IX Reach joining AMS-IX New York, we have managed to engage with a valuable player. They have an extensive network in the US, which makes it easier for parties outside of New York to connect to AMS-IX New York.”

AMS-IX has introduced a partner programme which allows third parties to resell AMS-IX ports anywhere they have infrastructure connecting to AMS-IX’s New York locations.

The programme certifies that these parties and their services can offer the AMS-IX service remotely, and is designed to make it easier for new customers to connect to the exchange.

“Peering and the internet are always evolving and established IXPs like AMS-IX are key to the growth of the internet,” said Steve Wilcox, founder and technical director at IX Reach.

“Being able to now offer connectivity to AMS-IX New York is an exciting addition to our peering services.”

In December last year, AMS-IX announced internet television network Netflix as the first customer of the New York exchange.
