ZTE reshuffles management structure

Chinese equipment vendor ZTE has announced plans to restructure its organisation by adopting a flattened management structure and making a series of new appointments.

ZTE mobile devices will operate as an independent unit the company said. The branch will be headed by Zeng Xuezhong, presently EVP of ZTE, while SVP Pang Shengqing has been appointed head of enterprise business.

The vendor also said that it will focus on developing 4G equipment, semiconductors and devices, as it aims to become a market leader in LTE.

As well as increasing investment in its three strategic areas (operators, mobile devices and enterprise) ZTE is aiming to expand in three emerging market segments: metropolitan public IT systems, new energy technology and mobile internet.

“The company is excited about the opportunities in enterprise and mobile devices in 2014, and the organisational changes will strengthen our capabilities in these areas,” said Hou Weigui, chairman of ZTE corporation.
