Huawei wins microwave backhaul contract with Orange Poland

ICT solutions provider Huawei has signed an agreement with Orange Poland to provide microwave backhaul equipment.

Under the two-year deal, Huawei will supply Orange Poland with second-generation E-band microwave products, which are designed to support the operator’s mobile broadband network.

The growth of Orange Poland’s mobile broadband services is said to have led to challenges with expensive frequency resources for traditional microwave products. Huawei said that its E-band 71-86 GHz microwave frequency bands address this problem by featuring abundant spectrum resources and favourable pricing for leasing sub-bands.

The move builds on a relationship between Huawei and Orange Poland that dates back to 2011, when the vendor became the operator’s IP microwave technology provider.

Other carriers that have adopted the second-generation E-band microwave products include Rostelecom, TK and VHA.
