Colt extends SIP trunking service offering

Colt has extended its SIP trunking service offering, Colt VoIP Access, to include advanced security and disaster-recovery functions.

The European operator is offering encryption to secure voice calls, which is said to provide customers with protection from attacks including eavesdropping and interception.

The service upgrade is designed to enable customers to more easily secure their VoIP traffic. It offers online analysis of traffic, performance and network utilisation, and can also generate call-monitoring reports.

"Increasingly customers who are seeking an enhanced voice provider require guarantees that their business-critical and back-office functions can be ably supported by their SIP trunking or VoIP service provider,” said Marta Muñoz Méndez-Villamil, research director, telecommunications at IDC EMEA. “Colt’s solutions and their cross-Europe capability mean multi-branch offices can expect the same service, no matter where they operate.”

Colt VoIP Access is a SIP-based voice telephony service, which connects the customer’s IP PBXs directly via IP technology instead of traditional PSTN circuits.

Colt offers a variety of connectivity options, ranging from public internet to dedicated connectivity.
