Bridge Alliance is made up of 14 mobile operators across Asia-Pacific – including SingTel and SK Telecom – and serves over 500 million customers.
Airtel Africa’s 17 operations across Africa will join the alliance and Andre Beyers, CMO at the company, hopes the initiative to help the company improve its international mobile business operations.
“It is important to be part of a strong alliance which can enable our enterprise customers to achieve full visibility of their regional mobile expenses for better check and control of corporate mobile spend,” said Beyers in a statement.
“Additionally, being part of Bridge Alliance enables the customers of Airtel Africa OpCos to enjoy forward-thinking roaming services extended to new countries in Asia and beyond.”
Alessandro Adriani, CEO of Bridge Alliance, said that the addition of Airtel Africa was another milestone for the association.
“We are deeply committed to help Airtel Africa enhance its market position and gain competitive advantage...our partnership will enable Airtel Africa to provide tailored solutions to serve enterprises wishing to procure mobile services regionally,” Adriani said.
“Additionally, sharing our expertise, research and empirical evidence gathered from other markets within the Alliance, Airtel Africa will be able to deliver geographically extended, simplified and competitive data roaming and voice services.”
In early November this year, Airtel Africa entered into an agreement with Warid Group to fully acquire its subsidiary Warid Congo in West Africa.
