Level 3 upgrades network across South America

Level 3 has announced various upgrades and expansions for its network infrastructure in Latin America to accommodate integrated IP solutions in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela.

The company has rolled out a range of developments across the region as it looks to leverage rising internet growth in Latin America, which according to analysts TeleGeography is doubling every two years.

In Argentina, the company has expanded its Metro Ethernet network to include network deployments in high-density areas, and it also expanded its national backbone in Brazil to meet customer needs.

The company also announced a new network route, which has been deployed in Porto Alegre, Brazil, connecting the city’s business centres.

It has also upgraded fibre paths across the Curitiba-São Paulo-Rio de Janeiro route, to ensure better availability and stability for the network. In addition, Level 3 has pledged a commitment to providing IP capacity to connect Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo with important economic hubs in the US and Europe.

“Level 3 is committed to expanding its network in the main cities of Latin America, where it sees significant opportunities for growth and we are dedicated to helping our customers improve their business,” said Hector Alonso, regional president for Latin America at Level 3.

“Not only does Level 3 have the network infrastructure to support these increasing market demands, but it also offers a comprehensive portfolio of business communications services that can help enhance the efficiency of our customers,” Alonso added.

In Colombia, the company confirmed it was responding to increasing demands for economic growth through increasing network coverage, and had also implemented a plan for growth in urban areas of Venezuela.
