Coriant and Netia to trial 400G in Poland

Optical transport solutions provider Coriant has announced a project with Poland-based fixed-line operator Netia, to trial DWDM technology and deploy 400G in the region.

The companies claim it will be the first 400G solution in the region, and is designed to meet the increasing demand for bandwidth, in addition to offering richer solutions to customers.

Coriant has been committed to investing in an R&D facility to develop 400G and respond to customer demands for data.

The trial is designed to significantly extend the capacity of Netia’s system, with the view of eventually achieving 12Tbps, in addition to delivering savings and ensuring financial and operating performance across the network.

The increased speeds will also enable Netia to roll out integrated telecoms and media services, which includes commercial TV, to businesses and end users.

Based on Coriant’s hiT 7300 DWDM technology, the move comprises of a number of innovations to create data transmission across Poland.

As part of the trials, Coriant deployed Flexigrid 400G super channel, and the purpose of the trial was to develop a 400G signal adjacent to 10G signals.

“At Coriant, we are working to deliver industry leading optical transport solutions today with seamless scalability to 100G and beyond,” said Daphne Popescu, head of business development, optical switching at Coriant.

“Our solution will provide bandwidth to high-level services from Netia and enable them to offer easy to use integrated packages across a faster and more reliable network.”

The partnership between the companies began with Netia deploying its DWDM network in Poland through Coriant, and it has now served to deploy most of Coriant’s DWDM portfolio.

“Our aim is to deploy integrated telecoms services and media solutions to end users to continue to grow our customer base and value,” added Marek Owczarski, technology development manager at Netia.

“We believe that 400G technology will enable Netia to offer these services, but also guarantee the Quality of Service to offer superior customer experience to the end-user,” Owczarski added.
