Jasper Wireless and Gen-i develop M2M in New Zealand

Gen-i, a subsidiary of the Telecom New Zealand Group, has today claimed that it is the first provider in New Zealand to offer Jasper Wireless’s global enterprise connected devices platform.

Jasper Wireless’s platform enables M2M connectivity across the extensive developer community around the globe, allowing New Zealand to participate in the wider M2M market.

Dave Shennan, head of mobility at Gen-i, expects the platform to allow the company to support its customers as they move towards telemetry and Big Data services.

“The Jasper Wireless platform will help our clients unleash the power of Big Data by enabling them to simultaneously monitor and manage multiple devices in any location, to provide real-time information that they can use to create a competitive edge,” Shennan said.

Jasper Wireless’s platform has been deployed by more than 100 operators across Australasia, the Americas, Europe and the Middle East, including Telstra in Australia and AT&T in the USA.

“Jasper Wireless is delighted to be working with Gen-i to quickly and profitably introduce, connect and manage connected mobile devices,” said Ken Laversin, global VP at Jasper Wireless.

“Mobile operators in the past have seen a five-fold profit increase using cloud-based M2M services management platforms and we expect growth potential to be even greater in the near future, as cellular M2M connections surge to 2.1 billion by 2020.”

Middle Eastern carrier Mobily signed an agreement with Jasper Wireless in March this year to deploy its M2M platform.
