Slim increases indirect stake in América Móvil

Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim has increased his indirect stake in América Móvil to 15.8%.

The US Securities and Exchange Commission revealed filings confirming that Slim’s real estate company, Inmuebles Carso, and his bank, Grupo Financiero Inbursa, had invested $248 million and $9.5 million respectively in América Móvil since early August this year.

Slim’s indirect stake has jumped from 15.2% in July this year, but Slim’s direct stake in América Móvil has not changed.

Earlier this month, América Móvil withdrew its €7.2 billion offer for Dutch firm KPN and Slim now appears to be strengthening his assets in South America.
