Rostelecom deploys Infinera DTN-X platform

Rostelecom has this week started the deployment of network provider Infinera’s DTN-X platform in a bid to extend the Russian operator’s IP/MPLS network reach.

Infinera’s platform is based on 500Gbps technology and is designed to allow Rostelecom to offer 10, 40 and 100GbE services to its customers.

“Being the largest telecommunications provider in Russia, Rostelecom sees the need to respond to immense growth of traffic volumes in a quick and proactive manner,” said Ivan Zima, SVP of network development at Rostelecom.

The 500Gbps super-channel technology is expected to provide high scalability and high-speed service delivery for Rostelecom’s multi-terabit transport network.

Infinera’s intelligent transport network, based on the DTN-X platform, also allows Rostelecom to reduce its operating costs via network automation capabilities, multi-layer convergence and high reliability.

“We are seeing ever increasing demand for our intelligent transport network solution globally,” said Tom Fallon, CEO at Infinera.

“Our innovative 100G solution, uniquely delivering 500Gbps super-channels, provides operators like Rostelecom a solution that delivers on scale, speed and flexibility, allowing them to use time as a weapon to differentiate in their market."

In April this year, Interoute deployed Infinera’s DTN-X platform for the delivery of 500Gbps speeds across the pan-European operator’s network.
