Eutelsat transfers disputed satellite frequencies to SES

French satellite operator Eutelsat Communications has transferred its operations on disputed frequencies at 28.5°E to Luxembourg’s SES, following a tribunal decision, according to local reports.

Under the rules of the International Chamber of Paris, the tribunal concluded that the first phase of arbitration would begin in September, alongside an injunction giving SES the rights to the frequencies.

The transfer of operations has now been completed and, as of October 4, Eutelsat no longer operates on the frequencies at 28.5°E.

Eutelsat has estimated revenues from the frequencies at €20 million for the remainder of the fiscal year, and approximately €25 million for each of the next two years.

SES and Eutelsat are reportedly discussing solutions to the arbitration issues.

In August this year Eutelsat acquired Mexican satellite operator Satélites Mexicanos (Satmex) for $1.142 billion.
