Vodafone CFO leaving post following Verizon Wireless sale

Vodafone has announced that CFO Andy Halford is to leave the company next year, after the completion of the $130 billion sale of its 45% stake in Verizon Wireless.

Halford has held the role for nine years and the company said he will leave his post in March 2014. He will be replaced by Nick Read, CEO of Vodafone’s Africa, Middle East and Asia-Pacific business.

Read has previously served as the group’s CEO and will be appointed as CFO-designate in January 2014.

Halford served as the company’s CFO for Verizon Wireless when he joined the company in 1999, before taking over as group CFO in 2005.

Verizon Communications agreed to pay $130 billion for Vodafone’s 45% stake in Verizon Wireless in September, ending a 14 year partnership.

Serpil Timuray will take on the region role vacated by Read at the start of next year.
