T-Mobile Netherlands will launch its Dutch LTE network on November 18 this year. The 4G services are expected to be initially available in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht and parts of The Hague. [read more


 

China’s Huawei has been awarded a six-year contract with Danish operator TDC for the deployment of its LTE network in Denmark. Huawei beat TDC’s previous vendor Ericsson to the deal, worth €536 million ($717 million). [read more


 

Australian mobile operator Optus has launched its TD-LTE 4G network in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide. The launches follow a successful trial and launch of the service in Canberra earlier this year. [read more


 

Virgin Media Business has launched its first 4G mobile service, on the network of UK operator EE. The service from Virgin Media Business is expected to provide enhanced mobile voice and data services for both public and private-sector organisations. [read more]


 

Mobile operator Airtel has said it will launch 3G services in Dhaka and Chittagong, Bangladesh in October this year. Airtel was one of four mobile operators in Bangladesh to secure a 3G licence, following the country’s long-awaited spectrum auction earlier this month. [read more]


 

US metro provider Fibertech Networks has launched a 100G metro Ethernet service aimed at US enterprise and service provider customers. The company has deployed Ciena’s 6500 Packet-Optical Platform, which is designed to meet growing bandwidth needs from the enterprise segment, particularly for high-speed data centre connectivity and digital media transmission. Virgin Mobile France has entered into a 3G and 4G roaming agreement with French operator Bouygues Telecom, Richard Branson, founder of Virgin group, said during a visit to Paris this week. MVNO Virgin France delivers its existing 3G and 4G roaming service through partnerships with Orange France and SFR. [read more


 

Vodafone will speed up the development of 4G in Greece as part of its network investment across Europe. The company’s group CEO Vittorio Colao said that Vodafone is committed to Greece, following his meeting with the country’s Prime Minister Antonis Samaras. [read more


 

Amsterdam’s AMS-IX has announced plans to build a regional internet exchange hub in Mombasa, Kenya. The hub is designed to develop east Africa’s regional internet interconnection and AMS-IX is working with the Kenya Internet Exchange Point (KIXP) for the deployment. [read more


 

Germany’s DE-CIX has marked the beginning of its operations in the US with the launch of a carrier- and data centre-neutral internet exchange in New York. The company plans to establish internet exchanges in major metro regions, with New York acting as the headquarters for its US operations. [read more
