Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) has signed an agreement with Tele2 Netherlands to deploy an LTE network for the Dutch operator. NSN will supply a nationwide radio access network, which is expected to enable 4G services via Tele2's 2600MHz and 800MHz frequency bands. [read more]



 

KT will launch LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) services in South Korea this month, in a bid to keep up with rival operators. Last week, the South Korean firm obtained 15MHz of 1800MHz spectrum in the country's auction, enabling the operator to offer the high-speed service. [read more]



 

BICS has launched FraudGuard – a fraud detection and prevention solution – to increase fraud awareness across its wholesale network. FraudGuard has been created as part of a partnership with cVidya, announced in May this year, and is designed to create an active community of telecoms companies to curb and control suspicious activity. Level 3 will provide Hexcel Corporation – a leading manufacturer of advanced composites – with IP VPN and co-location services. Level 3 said it was looking to support Hexcel's continued global expansion by providing additional capacity and reach to an expanding international team. [read more]



 

Vodafone India is likely to award an estimated $200 million contract to Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN). The contract would see NSN upgrade 19 of the Indian unit's 2G networks and six of its 3G networks across the country, local sources claim. [read more]



 

Etisalat has announced that four of its operating countries (OpCos) have joined its SmartHub IPX in the UAE. Etisalat Afghanistan, Etisalat Egypt, Etisalat Nigeria and Etisalat Sri Lanka have joined the hub in a bid to enhance international mobile services. [read more]



 

Pan-African service provider SEACOM has partnered with French internet exchange France-IX to deliver peering services to its customers on the continent. As a reseller of the French exchange, SEACOM hopes the partnership will extend its African operations at France-IX's interconnection point in Marseille. [read more]



 

Vodafone Egypt has selected Swedish equipment vendor Ericsson to deploy its Mobile Broadband Charging (MBC) service in Egypt. Ericsson's MBC is expected to provide 10 million Vodafone Egypt customers with a variety of data options and flexible, on-demand subscriptions. [read more]



 

SingTel has announced plans to enhance the SingNet eVolve and SingNet eLite corporate fibre broadband service with the SingTel Business Fibre Broadband Security Suite. The move is intended to provide SME customers in Singapore with online content filtering to protect their networks, with SMEs also able to subscribe to anti-virus and anti-spam services to ensure added security. BT subsidiary Openreach has deployed more than 100,000 of ADVA Optical Networking's FSP suites into its Ethernet Access Direct (EAD) services. The deployment is reportedly one of the largest instalments of Ethernet connectivity in the world, and the infrastructure provider's technology is designed to allow Openreach to simplify service provisioning and respond to customer requests more effectively.
