28 September 2012: HGC becomes the first foreign player to be granted permission to provide international voice and data services in Myanmar through an agreement with MPT.
12 January 2013: The government tells foreign companies to express their interests for investing in the country by the end of the month.
4 April 2013: Vodafone signs a strategic agreement with China Mobile in a bid to secure a licence.
8 April 2013: Myanmar's mobile licence auction attracts 22 bidders for two mobile licences.
31 May 2013: Vodafone and China Mobile both pull out of the battle to win a new licence in Myanmar.
26 June 2013: One day ahead of the planned announcement of the winning bidders, the government of Myanmar announces it will delay granting the two licences.
27 June 2013: The results still go ahead. Telenor and Ooredoo are announced winners.
12 July 2013: Telenor appoints Petter Furberg as CEO of Telenor Myanmar.
6 August 2013: Ooredoo hires corporate law firm Norton Rose Fulbright to advise it on future projects in the country.
7 August 2013: Myanmar's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) confirms that it will co-host Capacity's inaugural Myanmar Connect 2013.
10 & 11 September: Capacity to host the first executive summit uniting Myanmar with the international telecoms market in Nay Pi Taw.
