Slovakian regulators begin 4G spectrum auction process

Slovakian telecoms regulators have begun the process of rolling out 4G mobile broadband networks and are accepting bids for mobile spectrum frequencies from operators.

The Slovak Telecom Office said on its website that bidders for the electronic frequencies in the 800MHz and 2600MHz bands can submit offers until October 7 this year.

According to local reports, existing market players including Slovak Telecom, Orange and a unit of Telefónica Czech Republic have held consultations ahead of the auction.

Towercom, Satro, Swan and Czech-based PPF Mobile Service are also said to be interested in the auction.
