Hurricane establishes PoP in Bucharest

Hurricane Electric has today established a PoP at NXDATA’s data centre in Bucharest, Romania.

The NXDATA-1 is Romania’s first carrier neutral data centre and, according to reports, is considered one of the most significant business centres in northern Bucharest.

“Hurricane Electric is thrilled to bring our global connectivity options to the customers at NXDATA-1,” said Mike Leber, president at Hurricane Electric.

“All of Hurricane Electric’s backbone circuits are run over DWDM wavelengths directly on fibre, not on some other carrier's MPLS, enabling us to provide improved fault tolerance, load balancing, and congestion management for NXDATA-1’s customers.”

The Bucharest PoP is Hurricane’s sixth global expansion this summer, following a recent partnership with Interxion for a Copenhagen PoP, and is expected to announce additional sites in the coming months.

Hurricane is also connected to the InterLAN and RoNIX internet exchanges in Bucharest.
