Telx to launch third New York data centre

Data centre provider Telx has announced the launch of its third data centre in New York City, bringing its total number of facilities to 20.

The NYC3 data centre is located at 32 Avenue of the Americas, and brings Telx’s total data centre presence in the larger New York region to six, with a gross total area of 550,000 square feet.

Multi-generational real estate firm, Rudin Management, has partnered with Telx for the data centre, and the deal will see Telx exclusively manage and operate the carrier-neutral meet-me-room in the facility.

Telx will reportedly develop a 10th floor data centre within a former AT&T building, which Rudin has developed as a dense single network facility for voice, data and wireless service providers.

“New York City has always been Telx’s backyard, and although we have expanded throughout the country in recent years, we always remain focussed on providing unparalleled network connectivity and data centre solutions within the New York City metro area,” said Chris Downie, president and CFO at Telx.

“The establishment of NYC3 at 32 Avenue of the Americas provides Telx’s clients and prospects with a comprehensive connectivity solution and another option for expansion in New York City that is equal to the expertise and operational compliance that Telx delivers at NYC1 and NYC2.”

The NYC3 facility is expected to initially cover 72,000 square feet, with the potential for growth onto other floors.
