Sprint partners with Interxion for Madrid PoP

US operator Sprint has expanded its partnership with Interxion by selecting the data centre provider to manage a PoP in Madrid.

The partnership, announced today, will enhance Sprint’s presence in Madrid, and the company will use Interxion’s Madrid data centre to expand its international Ethernet services for US-based customers working in Spain.

The carrier has PoPs across Europe, in Interxion’s Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Brussels and Vienna data centres.

The companies hope the partnership will benefit multinational customers seeking to enhance access in Europe. According to Sprint, its multinational customers require 2Mbps to 1Gbps bandwidth speeds to reduce costs in zones that have high-bandwidth use. Michael Rolff, director of EMEA Network Services at Sprint said.

the Madrid PoP will continue to ensure its customers have “direct access” to facilities they require to support critical applications globally.

Interxion has 33 data centres in 11 European countries and claims its facilities will enable Sprint to provide customers with resilient services. Sprint will also have the ability to interconnect with other carriers and capacity providers located in Interxion’s data centre to further enhance its footprint.

Robert Assink, managing director at Interxion, Spain, added: “Sprint’s commitment to grow with Interxion demonstrates the strong returns our data centre facilities continue to provide.”
