Vivendi presses Orange to bid for Maroc Telecom

Vivendi is pushing for France Telecom-Orange to enter the battle for its 53% stake in Maroc Telecom, according to the Wall Street Journal.

France Telecom-Orange has reportedly been considering a bid for the Moroccan operator for some time, but is yet to act.

Korea’s KT showed an initial interest in the stake but withdrew an offer in March this year, as did Qatar’s Ooredoo earlier this month.

Etisialat in the UAE, which already has a presence in Africa, now stands as the only bidder.

Vivendi put its stake up for sale in October last year and it initially attracted four bidders.
