Alcatel-Lucent and Avelacom partner for 100G network

Alcatel-Lucent has today announced a partnership with Russian carrier Avelacom to expand its high-capacity 100G network spanning Moscow to London.

The network is designed to act as an information high-way between Europe and Russia, delivering low-latency connectivity to Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as several Baltic cities, Scandinavia, Western Europe and London.

“Our customers are businesses with high expectations for both quality of service, reliability and economical pricing,” said Aleksey Larichev, director of business development at Avelacom.

“The Alcatel-Lucent 100G optical network allows us to offer our customers telecom services they need to run their businesses most efficiently.”

Avelacom will use Alcatel-Lucent’s optical networking technology to enable high-speed data distribution over long distances, as well as providing a platform for the potential upgrade to 400G in the future.

“This is our first deployment of a low latency 100G DWDM network in the Nordic and Baltic regions,” said Luis Martinez Amago, president of Alcatel-Lucent’s EMEA region.

“Avelacom will be ready to upgrade to 400G speeds down the road thanks to our latest generation of the 400G Photonic Service Engine.”

In May this year, Alcatel-Lucent signed a deal with ARSAT in Argentina for the deployment of a nationwide 100G network.
