Operators Tunisiana and Orange Tunisia have signed a partnership agreement with Interoute to build a submarine cable connecting Tunisia to the company’s pan-European network. The submarine cable, named Didon, has been commissioned to help address the growing demand for fixed and mobile broadband services in the Tunisian region. [read more]




 

Telekom Austria Group has launched its 100G network in both Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). The network has been successfully trialled from Zagreb to Osijek and Ilok, and Telekom Austria launched the service in order to address growing traffic from the CEE region. [read more]




 

VTLWaveNet has announced the completion of the first phase of its 100G network upgrade in partnership with Huawei in Europe, spanning London to Paris. VTL and Huawei partnered in an effort to substantially increase VTL’s network capacity along the heavily populated route, according to the company. [read more]




 

Vodafone Germany has announced it has signed a network access agreement with Deutsche Telekom to offer high-speed fixed-line broadband and IPTV services across Germany. The operator penned the agreement with DT in an effort to enhance its portfolio of high-speed services. [read more]




 

Service provider Troy Cablevision has deployed Optelian’s 100G solution on its network. The Alabama-based operator used Optelian’s MPX-9110 Flexible 100Gbps Platform to deliver high capacity solutions to schools, universities, banks, hospitals, healthcare organisations and government and military installations. Data capacity provider DiViNetworks has partnered with Sandvine to deliver its Traffic Management Cloud service. The service is designed to provide ISPs with network policy control functions, eliminating the need to deploy a dedicated system in their own network. [read more]




 

TeliaSonera has announced it has selected EdgeCast Networks to accelerate its CDN offering and expand the company’s customer base. EdgeCast said the deal also allows it to increase the reach and capacity of its network, and both companies will make significant investments in driving network infrastructure for better performance overall. The GSMA and i3forum have announced an agreement to accelerate the take up of IP eXchange (IPX) based on interconnection agreements through live commercial pilots from voice traffic. The development has been struck in an effort to ensure the push towards IPX services remains an important strategy for carriers to address. [read more]


 XConnect has partnered with subsidiary of Global Communications Group, GCXS, to launch the Dutch Interconnection Alliance (DIA). The DIA is a carrier-neutral, IP Communications Exchange, designed to reduce costs, increase revenue and deliver cross-network IP services in the Netherlands. [read more]




 

Cloud provider Orixcom has announced the launch of a virtual private PoP service from its hub in the UAE. The virtual PoP is said to provide the company’s customers with increasing network presence, and enables operators across the Middle East and Africa to offer a range of services in the developing markets without making major investment.
