VTLWaveNet and Huawei announces 100G network upgrade

VTLWaveNet has announced the completion of the first phase of its 100G network upgrade in partnership with Huawei in Europe, spanning London to Paris.

VTL and Huawei partnered in an effort to substantially increase VTL’s network capacity along the heavily populated route, according to the company.

The platform, which has PoPs in London and Paris, is operational for 10G, 40G and 100G services along the route.

Huawei has also installed Soft-decision Forward Error Correction technology to control errors in data transmission and an OTN switch facility to efficiently manage business traffic.

“The upgrade of this part of our network allows us to serve new and existing customers on what has become a key route, and with VTL’s own sub-sea cable into France, we offer a diverse route to many other operators which avoids the Channel Tunnel,” said Lucy Woods, CEO at Viatel.

Huawei has also installed Soft-decision Forward Error Correction technology to control errors in data transmission and an OTN switch facility to efficiently manage business traffic.

Jack Wang, president of Huawei's transport product line, added: “Huawei’s soft decision technology has a distinct advantage in the international long distance backbone interconnection, providing a more reliable and better quality service for VTL customers.”
