Vodafone launches carrier services business following CWW acquisition

Vodafone has announced the launch of its carrier services business at ITW 2013.

Named Vodafone Carrier Services, the development has been made within the Vodafone Group Enterprise division, and has been created following the company’s acquisition of Cable&Wireless Worldwide last year.

The unit bids to combine Vodafone’s traditional services and CWW’s fixed arm into one integrated global carrier business.

Vodafone says the entity is designed to deliver economies of scale, and give CSPs a single interface to Vodafone, creating cost savings and efficiencies for both parties when buying and selling services.

The company’s acquisition of CWW was seen as highly profitable in the market, after it picked up the company at a relatively low price due to volatile market conditions.

Vodafone Carrier Services will provide customers with both voice and data services, and it already has over 1000 clients on the platform, offering a broad range of fixed and mobile services.

“The industry needs to work together to solve the commercial, operation and technical challenges of delivering end-to-end telecoms services,” said Brian Fitzpatrick, CEO at Vodafone Carrier Services.

“The entity aims to promote collaboration in the global telecoms industry – bringing together carriers and service providers from the fixed and mobile worlds to deliver new services and drive innovation.”

Vodafone has reiterated its commitment to the carrier community since its acquisition of CWW, and has placed an increasing importance on its presence at ITW 2013.
