Vodafone Spain pens network management deal with Huawei

Vodafone Spain has entered into a five year agreement with Huawei to provide management and maintenance services to its network.

Under terms of the agreement, Huawei is expected to manage Vodafone Spain’s ADSL and mobile access network across the country.

Huawei is also said to be responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance of the mobile network infrastructure and telecommunications equipment, including that required for 2G and 3G services.

The Chinese vendor will maintain any future mobile devices installed on the network, and Vodafone hopes the partnership will enable efficient service delivery, and a faster operational execution throughout Spain.

The partnership follows a low Q4 result for Vodafone Spain in 2012, and the consequent axing of 620 jobs earlier this year.
