OTEGLOBE and Infinera complete network upgrade

OTEGLOBE has completed the upgrade of its TransBalkan Network (TBN) in collaboration with Infinera.

Infinera has deployed 500Gbps channels on OTEGLOBE’s TBN through its DTN-X platform, and the network will stretch 8,000km from Greece to Germany.

The upgrade is designed to enable OTEGLOBE to double its capacity, offering 600Gbps to over 1Tbps, and meet increasing demand from Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

“We have been working with Infinera since 2008 using the DTN platform in our TBN network,” said Panagiota Bosdogianni, technology director at OTEGLOBE.

“Being satisfied with our Infinera experience, we selected the new DTN-X platform for our recent network upgrade, which has been successfully completed without disturbing existing traffic or our network operation procedures.”

Infinera’s DTN-X platform also delivers a Generalised Multi-Protocol Label Switching (GMPLS) control plane designed to provide high-speed network restoration.

“Infinera is committed to delivering the most reliable and latest technology to our customers without the expense of conventional network architectures,” said Chris Champion, VP of EMEA sales at Infinera.

“We are excited that OTEGLOBE has deployed the Infinera DTN-X platform for their international network, bringing improved reliability to global carriers in the region."

In January this year, Infinera’s DTN-X platform was selected by web hosting company OVH to increase the capacity of its pan-European network.
