TIM Brasil selects Nokia Siemens Networks to build 4G LTE network

TIM Brasil has selected Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) to build its 4G LTE network on top of the operator’s existing 2G and 3G networks.

TIM Brasil, the Brazilian arm of Telecom Italia Mobile, is looking to build the network and increase its operations ahead of the upcoming Confederations Cup, in 2013, and the FIFA World Cup, which is staged throughout Brazil, in the summer of 2014.

Aray Chagas, head of local operators at Nokia Siemens Networks, said the company would used its radio access network to ensure a smooth deployment of the LTE network.

“We are committed to helping TIM Brasil by improving network coverage and fulfilling the ever-increasing demand for high-speed networks.”

Nokia Siemens Networks is providing the operator with an upgrade to LTE using the 2.6GHz frequency band.
