KT and Akamai sign CDN agreement

Akamai has strengthened its partnership with KT by enhancing its content delivery network (CDN) in South Korea.

Incumbent carrier KT, which has partnered with the US company since 2011, will use Akamai's Aura Managed CDN.

KT expects the CDN agreement to help meet the increased demand of online multimedia traffic resulting from more connected devices, changing viewer habits and social networking.

"The era has come where culture and digital content are leading the market. Our main priority is to ensure access to content from any device, at anytime, anywhere," said Heekyung Song, SVP for enterprise at KT.

"Through this partnership with Akamai, KT will provide a CDN platform specialising in media delivery, web performance and security so companies can focus on developing quality content and web applications without concerns about delivery."

Sanjay Singh, SVP, Asia Pacific and Japan at AKamai, wants to continue the collaboration that was formed in 2011.
