AT&T and Shell renew service agreement

AT&T has renewed its agreement with Shell for the petroleum company’s communications and mobility solutions.

The existing five-year contract has been renewed for a further five years, in a deal which is reportedly the largest AT&T has signed with a company headquartered outside of the US.

Shell is expected to benefit from connectivity in harsh and inaccessible locations through the use of AT&T’s comprehensive networking services.

“It’s been enormously rewarding to work with Shell, which operates in a very dynamic and highly globalised industry,” said Mark Shine, SVP at AT&T.

“By providing global networking solutions accessible from just about every corner of the planet, AT&T is delivering what it does best, so that Shell can focus on its core business – providing energy products and solutions for consumers and businesses around the world.”

AT&T is also managing mobile voice and data for Shell users, as well as deploying internet-based voice services and security systems for the company.

“With the world of business now going mobile, we know we can deliver an even higher level of value to them,” Shine added.

The renewal follows rumours that AT&T is looking to sell its non-core assetsin attempt to increase its financial flexibility.
