NTT Communications inks VPN services partnership with Alcatel-Lucent

NTT Communications has selected Alcatel-Lucent to improve its VPN services for business customers by deploying the vendor’s IP-based multi service edge routers.

The move is intended to boost speed, performance and cost efficiency within NTT’s VPN enterprise services.

The Japanese operator will introduce Alcatel-Lucent’s 7750 service router to replace legacy services, provided by independent networks. It is hoped that the move to a single, converged IP infrastructure will simplify and streamline network management, cut network operation cost and help lower NTT Com’s operational expenditure.

Director of technology, Network Services, at NTT Com, Hiroshi Sono, said: “Alcatel-Lucent’s dedication to continuously enhancing their platforms with the very latest capabilities gives us the confidence that this new network will be able to address the fast-evolving expectations of our customers far into the future.”

Martin Jordy, president and managing director of Alcatel-Lucent Japan, said their innovations were addressing the growing demand for sophisticated data services.

He added: “This commitment to continuous innovation has allowed us to build an increasingly close relationship with NTT, and to expand our overall position in the extremely competitive Japanese market.”
