Alcatel-Lucent and Telenor India in managed services partnership

Alcatel-Lucent and Telenor India have established a managed and transformation services partnership for operations in India.

The troubled French vendor believes the deal reaffirms its position as a leading vendor in the global marketplace.

Alcatel-Lucent will provide the services to Telewings Communications, a company fully-owned by Telenor Group, covering over 257 million people across the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.

“We believe that thinking beyond traditional managed services, working together in a transformational partnership set-up will bring continuous innovation and deliver better services to our end-customers,” said Yogesh Malik, COO at Telewings.

Telewings recently secured spectrum for six telecoms zones in India and is expected to benefit from the deployment of Alcatel-Lucent’s network performance tools to deliver an improved, high-quality network experience for its customers.

“This agreement reaches beyond traditional managed services and helps put Telewings on a transformational path that will enable its customers to experience top-of-the-line services,” said Munish Seth, president and managing director at Alcatel-Lucent India.

“This strategic win expands our relationship with Telenor and provides a clear indication of the confidence they have in our ability to be among the leaders in network transformation.”

The agreement follows Telenor’s recent strategic cooperation with Huawei in January this year.
