Zain and Huawei sign MoU for joint innovation centre

Zain Kuwait has signed an MoU with Huawei to establish a joint innovation centre in the country.

The centre will be focussed on the advancement of LTE technology and associated with LTE applications for Zain’s mobile customers across the region.

It is claimed that the joint innovation centre will support Zain in enhancing its service offerings and realising additional revenue streams through LTE.

Both companies will invest in the construction of the site, and the two will also bring together global experts, engineers, and other human resources.

"We are aware that the competition for quality internet services is increasing, and by partnering with a leading global ICT solutions provider such as Huawei to launch the first joint innovation centre, we are reassuring our utmost concern in offering latest technologies in Kuwait,” said Omar Al Omar , CEO of Zain Kuwait.

He added that the company plans to pursue further partnerships to ensure its customers receive the best services.

Among the goals of the facility are to test LTE compatible services and application and the development of processes to measure subscriber QoS and customer experience analysis.

Huawei has to date launched more than 28 of these innovation centres worldwide as well as 16 global R&D centres.

The agreement was signed at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona.
