Reliance Communications and Alcatel-Lucent extend managed services partnership

Reliance Communications has entered into an end-to-end network managed services agreement with Alcatel-Lucent addressing eastern and south India up to 2020.

The contract extends both companies' existing relationship, worth over $1 billion, and will aim to deliver improved voice and data services for Reliance’s customers.

Alcatel-Lucent claimed the agreement is India’s first strategic agreement intended to cater to consumer demand.

The French vendor said the agreement will be oriented around creating independent wireless and wireline communications on a single network management platform, and optimise resources to aid Reliance in growing its business.

“This is the first time national long distance network and access network is being outsourced to deliver world class service delivery and assurance performance,” said Punit Garg, CEO, global enterprise business at Reliance Communications. “Our enterprise customers will be able to deploy data services with high confidence underpinned by our integrated network and expertise of Alcatel-Lucent.”

Alcatel-Lucent said the increased partnership with Reliance Communications outlined the company’s commitment to India. “It demonstrates our renewed focus on managed services as we apply greater selectivity on more value-added contracts,” added Rajeev Molares, president, Asia-Pacific at Alcatel-Lucent.
